On our way to the store, a nice sunny day about 48 degrees Elise asked for the window to be rolled down. Further down the road she started screaming, "My Doggie!!! My Doggie!" Instantly Joe looked in the rearview mirror said, "Oh #$*#!!!" He immediately turned into the Fred Meyer parking lot, hit the emergency flashers, jumped out of the truck and started running. I then watched Joe sprint down the sidewalk and into traffic. He retreived the doggie waved kindly to the driver who avoided hitting him and bounded up the sideway with doggie in hand. Elise is screaming bloody murder the whole time, tears streaming down her face. When daddy came back she said thank you and gave her hero and her doggie big hugs. Lesson learned, no more field trips with doggie in tow, this stuffed animal had been with her since birth and we have no replica. It was purchased in Amish county and is one of a kind.
All the while Laura can't contain her laughter and is thinking how Joe is putting his life on the line for this silly doggie.
