Storm Aftermath

Wednesday, the 18th, Joe woke up mid morning and was amazed at how much snow we had. He wanted to go for a drive so we started to get packed up. Just about then our power went out...and stayed out... for 149 HOURS!! We had a hunch we were not going to be staying at our house with no power or water. We left to go for our drive and to get gas and lunch.

It was true storm conditions: it took 30 minutes to wait in line for gas, McDonalds was cash only, intersections were without power so they turned into 4 way stops- it was an absolute mess. The normal 30 minute drive turned into an hour.

We stayed at Jo Anne and Tom's for 6 nights. The kids all in all were real troopers and so were Grandma and Grandpa.

When Elise heard we were going to stay at Grandma and Grandpa's house this is what she packed: sleeping bag, pajamas, her stuffed lamb, her stuffed bear, her doggie and Bible. I'd say this girl was set!

Look it was so cold the ducks were froze in the pond. ;) No animals were hurt in the making of this photograph- they are decoys.

Our neighbor's fruit trees.

Over the road and in the snow to Grandmother's house we go...
