Joe and I went to Juli's house Wednesday to learn the pony basics. We learned how to brush (a 4 step process) a pony, how to saddle a pony, how to do a Western knot (head, hind, heel), the difference between a halter/bit/bridle/anti-grazing device (little Spirit could stand to lose 50 lbs- he's a grazer awww we have something in common) what a flake is (amt of hay), horse anatomy where the poll is (between the ears), where the withers is (base bone of the neck and where the horse is measured in "hands" one hand = 4 inches, Spirit is roughly 10.5 hands ~42" high), where the coffin bone is (in the foot, right above the frog, the pad of the foot). The list goes on and on. This is a whole new world.
No wonder I asked Joe to get me the book "Horses for Dummies."
