Laura finally escaped to the bathroom and in followed Elise and Russell. She had just sat down and Elise asked, "Mommy, are you going potty?"
Laura was irritated. Joe was home and was asked to watch the kids while she snuck away, somehow that did not happen.
Laura's reply was short and abrupt, "Well I'm trying to but you kids are...." She decided not to finish the rest of the sentence. The saying if you can't say something nice don't say nothing at all came to her and she halted.
Elise knew what the rest of the sentence should have been. She piped up with, "Are bugging you?"
"Yes, Elise, you kids are bugging me."
